FAQ

Receiving ETA-IL authorization does not allow you to stay in Israel for two years, it only allows you to travel to Israel if your passport is one of a Visa-exempt country, allowing you to stay for 90 days or less. If you plan to stay for longer than 90 days you will be required to submit a request for the extension of your stay.

The system will be opened as a pilot for citizens of visa – exempt countries on July 1st, 2024

The pilot is intended to allow travelers to become familiar with the new regulations regarding entry into Israel, so submitting the application during the pilot period is optional.

You should receive a reply within 24 to 72 hours (sometimes within a few minutes).

If you are a citizen of an eligible country that does not require a B/2 visa for Israel, you must complete an ETA-IL form.

See the list of countries that require a visa.

Your ETA-IL authorization is generally valid for multiple trips over a period of up to two years from the date your application is approved, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. This means that as long as you received an ETA-IL authorization to travel, you do not have to reapply during the validity period.

If your ETA-IL expires while in Israel, it will not affect your departure.

Yes, any person, regardless of their age, arriving in Israel from a country exempt from a B/2 visa, must obtain an ETA-IL authorization. When completing an application form for a minor, you will indicate at the beginning that you are completing the form for someone else.

An ETA-IL allows you to enter Israel for a period of up to 90 days. If you wish to stay longer, you will be required to submit a request for the extension of your stay in accordance to PIBA procedures.

If you obtain a new passport or change your name, gender or country of citizenship, you will be required to apply for a new travel authorization. The associated fee of 25 NIS will be charged for each new application submitted.

You can correct your application as long as the form has not been submitted yet. The final step of the application before submission allows you to review your data. After submission, you cannot correct the form, and you will need to fill out a new form.

Having a valid ETA-IL travel authorization does not automatically grant you the right to enter Israel. All travelers arriving at the border are subject to border control checks. Israel’s border control officers are authorized to deny entry of any person who is not allowed to enter Israel according to the Israeli law and PIBA’s procedures.

The Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) does not require you to print the reply you receive by email, but it is advisable to have the confirmation number or a printed copy of the confirmation with you.

An ETA-IL is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. During the validity period, your ETA-IL approval may be revoked for immigration or security reasons, and you will be informed by e-mail.

The airline companies are not required by PIBA to ask you for a printed confirmation.   However, PIBA is not responsible for the internal guidelines and procedures of any such company, so it is advisable to have the confirmation number or a printed copy of the confirmation with you
